Cleansing Short and Simple

Thursday, June 16th, 2016

I have a friend from years ago who did a cleanse at the beginning of each new season.  I’ve done cleanses over the years and can verify that they are helpful.  They liked doing these cleanses for similar reasons to my own.  More energy, healthier skin, and to rid our bodies of toxins.

One of the reasons that I find cleansing to be important is to clear out toxins from our liver, kidneys, colon, lungs and skin.  In order for me to do that in my life I’ve chosen to use a product called Zendocrine.  You can take one capsule with morning and evening meals.

*pregnant women or nursing women and people with known medical conditions should consult your physician prior to taking supplements.

Zendocrine® Detoxification Complex

The body’s filtering and waste management system is tasked with managing the body’s exposure to toxic influencers. dōTERRA Zendocrine® Detoxification Complex is a proprietary blend of whole-food extracts in a patented enzyme delivery system that supports healthy cleansing and filtering functions of the liver, kidneys, colon, lungs, and skin. *Pregnant women or nursing women and people with known medical conditions should consult your physician prior to taking supplements.

Uses for Fractionated Coconut Oil

Wednesday, July 15th, 2015

I use essential oils every day and I like to use a carrier oil with some of them.  The past few years I’ve only used fractionated coconut oil and I love it.  It doesn’t go rancid, the smell is not really a smell, it just smells clean and a little goes a long way.  It isn’t greasy and it is clear in color and light not heavy like a lot of other oils.

Fractionated coconut oil is a fraction of the whole oil, in which the different medium-chain fatty acids are separated for specific uses. Lauric acid, a 12-carbon chain fatty acid, is often removed because of its high value for industrial and medical purposes.[19] The fractionation of coconut oil may be used to make caprylic/capric triglyceride oil.[20] Medium-chain triglycerides such as caprylic/capric triglyceride oil are most frequently used for medical applications, special diets, and cosmetics, sometimes also being used as a carrier oil for fragrances.

1- Long shelf life

2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coconut_oilclosest substance to human sub-cutaneous fat and more compatible with skin than vegetable oils.

Advantages of Fractionated Coconut Oil

With no double bonds, there is no oxidation.  Thus, fractionated coconut oil is a carrier that never goes rancid.  It basically has an indefinite shelf life and is in a perfectly clear liquid form. Other advantages of fractionated coconut oil are:

·  It is odorless and colorless.  It won’t stain and easily washes out of clothing and sheets.

·  It absorbs into the skin while reducing essential oil evaporation.

·  It is excellent on skin; a natural and very safe moisturizer, softener and safe, non-irritant lubricator.

·  It leaves skins smooth with no greasy feeling.

·  Low production costs make it cost effective.

·  It can be mixed with other, more expensive, carriers to increase shelf life.  It can also be used it to create different cream textures.

·  It does not aggravate skin problems or clog pores.

·  It is fully digestible and considered an excellent and healthy cooking oil.

·  It is truly one of the best multi-purpose carrier oil products on the market.

A.M. Smoothie with Omega-3 fatty acids

Wednesday, June 19th, 2013

My Breakfast Smoothie consists of 6 small clumps of frozen organic broccoli , 2 large leaves of organic kale,  protein powder, 4 frozen strawberries, 2 tbs of Flax Seed Meal, 1 cup of Silk’s Almond Milk, Non GMO (first time I’ve tried this brand), I like it, ice, 2 oz mangosteen, 1/2 cup green tea.

I like making different smoothies all the time, this is one that I like the most.

The nutritional benefits from the  broccoli & kale, and the Omega-3 fatty acids from 2 tbs of Flax Seed Meal which equals = 2400 mg of Omega 3’s is awesome.   It was one of the best smoothies I have ever made and it was quick!

“One of the consequences of general unawareness of the body’s healing system is that too many people lack confidence in their own innate abilities to deal with common heath problems. Instead of relying on the wisdom of their bodies, they seek the attention of health-care professionals and vastly overuse medical services.” Dr Andrew Weil

The Importance of Omega 3’s has been studied and here is some of the research that is extremely helpful in educating ourselves on how to maintain a healthy body.

“Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and may help lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appear to be important for cognitive (brain memory and performance) and behavioral function. In fact, infants who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids from their mothers during pregnancy are at risk for developing vision and nerve problems. Symptoms of omega-3 fatty acid deficiency include fatigue, poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, mood swings or depression, and poor circulation.”

Now that we have jogged our memories on just how important Omega-3 fatty acids are in our daily diets and why they are so vital for optimal health we can start using them daily in smoothies.  The rest of the article from The University of Maryland is excellent.

“Flax Seed is High in Phytochemicals: Flax seed is high in phytochemicals, including many antioxidants. It is perhaps our best source of lignans, which convert in our intestines to substances that tend to balance female hormones. There is evidence that lignans may promote fertility, reduce peri-menopausal symptoms, and possibly help prevent breast cancer. In addition, lignans may help prevent Type 2 diabetes.”

SummerCooking#EssentialOils#Chicken Chili Recipe

Monday, June 17th, 2013

Cooking with essential oils is rather easy, it is a way  to add  a bit of spice to your own recipes.  There are a few tips to using essential oils in your cooking.

The amount to use, start with one drop, add more to taste.  The only exception to this rule is oregano, put a toothpick in the essential oil and stir that into your sauce or other recipe. Oregano is a very hot and potent oil and needs to be used to taste.

The ideal time to add essential oils in your cooking is at the end or when the food has been cooking for a while.  If you use it at the beginning of your cooking you may need to add more because some of the oil will evaporate during cooking.

I add Therapeutic Grade “Essential Oils to my summer dishes. They will enhance everything, from upgrading your culinary creations, to creating an inviting aromatic atmosphere.”

The Aromatic Influence of Basil is that it helps maintain an open mind and increases clarity of thought.

Basil is valued for its restorative and calming properties, basil can sooth sore muscles and joints, to ease breathing, and as a cooling agent for the skin.

Chicken Chili Ingredients:

  • 3 chopped yellow onions (1 1/2- 2 recommended)
  • ¼ cup olive oil, plus extra for chicken
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 red bell peppers, cored, seeded, and large-diced
  • 2 yellow bell peppers, cored, seeded, and large-diced
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • ¼ tsp. dried red pepper flakes or to taste
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • 2 tsp. salt, plus more for chicken
  • 2 28-ounce cans whole peeled plum tomatoes in puree, undrained
  • 5 drops Basil Essential Oil
  • 4 split chicken breasts, bone in, skin on
  • Freshly ground pepper

Directions:

Cook the onions in the olive oil over medium-low heat for 10 to 15 minutes, until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Add the bell peppers, chili powder, cumin, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, and salt. Cook for 1 minute. Crush the tomatoes by hand or in batches in a food processor (don’t pulse for too long if using a processor-doing it in by hand is recommended). Add tomatoes and basil oil. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Rub chicken breasts with olive oil and place on baking sheet. Season generously with salt and pepper. Roast chicken for 30 to 35 minutes until cooked. After letting it cool for a few minutes, remove bone and skin and shred or cut into chunks. Add chicken to the chili and simmer for another 20 minutes. Enjoy!

Basil has a warm, spicy, yet herbal aroma known to enhance memory function while reducing stress and tension. Basil provides restorative benefits to both the mind and body due to its high linalool content, making it an ideal application for sore muscles and joints and to reduce tension when applied to the temples and back of the neck. Basil is commonly used in cooking to add a fresh, herbal flavor to meats, pastas, and entrée dishes, but it is also cooling to the skin and can be used to soothe minor irritations. When diffused, Basil helps promote clear breathing and healthy respiratory function while sharpening focus and lessening stress. USES • Diffuse to sharpen focus while studying or reading. • Apply to minor skin irritations. For sensitive skin, dilute with dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil. • Apply to fatigued or sore muscles and joints. • Diffuse or apply topically to promote clear breathing.

Staying Balanced

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

“Balance” is my goal.

How so many people are doing this is by using Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.

“Everyone experiences moments of disconnectedness or anxiety. The warm, woody aroma of Balance, dōTERRA®’s grounding blend, creates a sense of calm and well-being. dōTERRA® perfectly blends spruce, rosewood, frankincense, and blue tansy with fractionated coconut oil to offer an enticing fragrance which promotes tranquility and a sense of balance. This blend is for aromatic or topical use.”

You can use this blend as a perfume, a nice body massage blend and diffuse it in your home or office.  This “Balance” blend is for Women and Men.

“The Lotus diffuser uses a highly efficient real time atomization technology to effectively diffuse essential oils into the environment. The essential oils are atomized into minute ion particles and active oxygen anions, which are more easily absorbed by the human body than oils diffused by conventional diffusers. dōTERRA® is pleased to be the exclusive distributor of the Lotus diffuser to you and your family.”

I use this blend throughout my day to stay relaxed.  This blend is also nice before bed for a great night’s sleep.

Essential Oils For Horses

Thursday, March 1st, 2012

“The Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world. It is also one of the oldest breeds, with archaeological evidence of horses that resemble modern Arabians dating back 4,500 years. Throughout history, Arabian horses spread around the world by both war and trade, used to improve other breeds by adding speed, refinement, endurance, and strong bones. Today, Arabian bloodlines are found in almost every modern breed of a riding horse.” WIKI

I love horses, I don’t own one but if I did I would want to own an Arabian.  This weekend I spent a day at the  57th Arabian Horse Show which was here in Scottsdale as it is every year.  I always enjoy watching this beautiful breed of horse prancing in the arena. They are so graceful.  I love to see how beautifully adorned they are along with their riders in their costumes. They are gorgeous.

As I become more knowledgeable about  Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils and their advantages I came across evidence showing that these Oils promote health in horses.

It is most interesting that despite their size, horses are sensitive. We would use the same dosage of CPTG essential oils on a horse as for an adult human, less for pregnant mares, Shetlands, and toy breeds.

I cannot guarantee that you will get the same results using oils that are not Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade.

My research has been documented and proven only with doTERRA’s CPTG essential oils.

There are certain essential oils that are generally regarded as safe (GRAS) so that some may be ingested internally.

CPTG essential oils are 50-70 times more potent than the dried herb. For instance one drop of our peppermint oil is equal to approximately 28 cups of peppermint tea.  Now that is potent.

I refer to a book called “Modern Essentials” which gives me different applications to use as well as specific doses that I can apply for most symptoms, A to Z.

I wanted to present to you a few of my favorite essential oils that have shown to be beneficial for these manifestions or illnesses, in order to support your horse’s health.

Another way to treat anxiety in horses as well as humans would be to have an essential oil diffuser in the barn and in the office. Aromatherapy will calm, and relax.

Frankincense is one of the oils for Anti-Anxiety, Colitis, Infections, Insect/Snake Bites, Scarring, Tumors, and Warts.

Helichrysum is especially great for Wound Care or Nerve Damage.

Lemon is great for boosting the Immune System and Hoof Strength.

Melaleuca (Tea Tree) has been used for Hoof Rot, Lice and Mites.

Our Deep Blue Rub is excellent for Arthritis or Monday Morning Sickness.  After a weekend of training both the trainer and the horse can use our Deep Blue rub, I use it almost every day.

Our On-Guard Blend supports a Healthy Immune System.

Seeing the care that is given to these horses, I believe that using aromatherapy can benefit them greatly.  Becoming versed in the chemical constituents that are present in these oils is why I wanted to talk about their advantages.  Essential oils kill viruses and bacteria because they can penetrate cells to eliminate these pathogens.

It is fascinating that there are natural and alternative ways to help protect these beautiful horses.  We can treat them with this type of oil therapy that does not have the harmful side affects that chemicals from pharmaceuticals can provoke.

Natural plant oils are quickly and cleanly metabolized and do not build up in their systems or ours. Therefore you can reapply as needed.  We always avoid the eye area, but just in case we would flush the eye with milk.

You can use these oils in conjunction with other types of care you are already giving, or you can use these oils instead of pharmaceuticals.  For an example you could use our Digest-Zen blend for treatment of gastric ulcers instead of Omeprazole, this blend of oils can be healthful for your horses.

I believe in alternative health care but at one time or another we all have a need to see a doctor. As we are educating ourselves on how to reinvent our healthcare, we can use CPTG essential oils by themselves or they can be partnered with other treatments that you are giving.  If you are working to prevent illness or a minor issue to start with, you can use essential oils in lieu of pharmaceuticals.

I want to leave with you one more recommendation for a Cool-Down Mist.  In a 16 oz bottle, not plastic, put 6-8 drops of doTerra Peppermint or 6-8 drops of doTerra AromaTouch Blend or 6-8 drops of deTerra Breathe Blend.  Fill the remainder of the bottle with distilled water.  Spray the horse, avoiding the eyes.  Reapply as needed.

I have enjoyed sharing a little bit of wisdom that I have gleaned from studying about CPTG essential oils for horses.  In promoting wellness not only in people but for horses, I have available samples of these oils that I have talked about.  You can contact me at crgeiger@IdealScentsllc.com.

Medicinal Properties In Essential Oils

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

Ancient literature shows that the Egyptians were masters at blending aromatic oils, they may have been the first people to discover the healing properties in the plants that produce essential oils.

In 1922 when King Tut’s tomb was opened, they discovered an abundance of alabaster jars that were filled with about 100 gallons of essential oils.

“The Ebers Papyrus medical scroll reveals that Egyptian healers had a remarkably high success rate, treating as many as eighty-one diseases using oils of frankincense, cinnamon, myrrh, rosemary, galbanum, hyssop, cassia, and spikenard often mixed with honey.”  As doctor James L. Geiger, the oil/MD talks about in his book ” Your Doctor’s Natural Guide To A Longer, Healthier Life.”  The Sweet Smell of Success

How are essential oils being integrated into modern medicine to improve patient care?

The chemistry behind therapeutic grade essential oils is being examined by the medical community. Essential oils as Dr. Geiger explained to me “are very versatile, one oil can simultaneously enhance the cellular immune system (increases lymphocytes)  while eradicating infectious organisms.”

A wellness project that was broadcast by  Fox News reported on the study that was done at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee. The medical center studied essential oils to see what affect they would have in their emergency room.

The study was done to help decrease stress and help increase energy. They ran the study by placing aromatherapy diffusers around the emergency room, and diffusing them.

The results surprised many of the 100 emergency room staff.

Before the study 41% of the emergency room staff were stressed at work, after diffusing the oils only 3% were stressed at work.

Prior to the study 60% of the emergency room staff were frustrated at work, after the diffusing of the essential oils only 6% were frustrated.

After observing closely the dramatic results from studies using essential oils, many health care providers and medical facilities are looking into how they might integrate essential oils into their private practices and their hospital settings.

Improvement for the work environment and to promote patient care outcomes should be in my opinion a necessary goal of all medical practices.

Wellness institutes like  California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, Ca are offering essential oil aromatherapy as a complimentary medicine approach in their overall medical plan.

A doctor I know has integrated essential oils into his practice, he uses the essential oil of Ginger on his patients in the operating room to avoid post surgery nausea and vomiting.  Dr. James L. Geiger, in his latest book The Sweet Smell of Success “Your Doctor’s Natural Guide to a Longer Healthier Life”, explains the scientific validity of using essential oils as an integrative therapy.

It is my passion to continue educating myself and others on the uses for therapeutic grade essential oils.

Using Essential Oils In Your Home

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

Using Essential Oils  In Your Home can be easy and become your way of taking charge and becoming more health conscious.

I have been using essential oils in my home for many years now on a daily basis.  They have made an enormous transformation to our health and wellness.

My education first came when I took a year long course by Jane Buckle Ph.D., RN.

I have continued my education since that time and I am continuing to learn more and to put these precious oils to work.   As I do this, I’m gaining more understanding about their potency, and the chemistry behind these wonderful oils.

The constituents in therapeutic grade essential oils are different from other oils.  These essential oils are pure without contaminants.  I choose these oils for myself, my family, and my friends for two reasons, one is for their quality, meaning potency, and the healing properties that cerified pure oils like Frankincense, Myrrh, Lavender, Lime and Lemon  have on our bodies.

Secondly you get what you pay for so the investment is well worth it, you are investing in your future for healthy aging by using certified pure essential oils.  Have you ever heard the phrase you get what you pay for.  Well that is exactly my point, that is why I choose to use certified pure essential oils for myself, my family, and my friends. Contact me @ crgeiger@idealscentsllc.com for more information on how you can purchase these oils at wholesale prices.

Pure essential oils are very potent therefore you don’t need as much.  The benefits are too numerable to mention all at once.

I recommend the continued education of essential oils.  They have put me in charge of the varying complaints that go on in a household.

Here are a few suggestions: There are many more oils that can be used for these complaints, and I’m just naming a few.

**I use Grapefruit Peel, Lemon Peel, Peppermint Plant, Ginger Root, and Cinnamon Bark essential oils to curb my appetite and help with my metabolism.

**Feed the Brain with these certified pure essential oils  Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Blue Tansy, German Chamomile, Helichrysum, and Osmanthus,

**Help your Respiratory system with these therapeutic grade oils: Laurel Leaf, Peppermint Plant, Eucalyptus Leaf/ Stem, Melaleuca Leaf, Lemon Peel, Ravensara Leaf, Cardamom Seed essential oils.

Cleaning and Disinfecting with Essential oils…Use a couple of drops of lemon & melaleuca in a spray bottle to clean bathrooms and kitchens.

There are many uses and recipes for the use of essential oils.  I’m experimenting in the kitchen with oils like cinnamon and clove.   The holidays are coming and we can use these oils to spice up our traditional recipes or have new ones.

I make a Foaming Hand Wash and I use two tablespoons of Dr. Bonner’s unscented Castile Liquid Soap, one tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil and 10 drops of my favorite certified pure essential oils.

I suggest one to two drops of essential oils with  2 tablespoons of a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil this will be beneficial when applying them to the body.   These oils are very potent and more essential oil is not necessary.  It would be better to apply the therapeutic grade essential oils more frequently than to use too much at one time.  Essential oils safety is something I take very seriously.

When applying essential oils to large areas of the body, diluting them with a carrier oil is best so that they are gentle to the skin, the recommendation is to dilute the oils as follows 15%-30% carrier oil is suggested.

There are several ways to use them.  One of the fastest ways to absorb them is when they are applied to the feet because of the large pores.

For Infants dilute one to three drops of essential oils to one tablespoon of a carrier oil.  For Children 2-5 yrs of age one to three drops to one teaspoon of a carrier oil.  The application of these oils for Infants and Children should be on the feet, then add socks or to the back, as well as a diffuser.

One of my favorite ways to use essential oils is to diffuse them throughout the day in my home.

Please note these recommendations are for use with therapeutic grade essential oils.  Please use with caution and keep out of the reach of children.

The 24 Hour Anti Aging Plan…As Seen on the Dr. Oz Show

Friday, May 27th, 2011

The 24-Hour Anti-Aging Plan as seen on the Dr. Oz Show was fantastic so I wanted to share some of it with you. Here are 5 basic steps that you can change now and see results now.

Russ Greenfield, MD…Integrative Medicine Specialist was on the Dr. Oz Show to help explain why these changes work. These are small changes that you can start today.

5 Missions To Stop Aging

1 Wipe Out Wrinkles

Cut down on sugar. Replace it with products that do not contain added sugar. Take the supplement GTF chromium it is an important trace mineral that helps regulate blood sugar levels. Why is this important? Because sugar breaks down collegian.

2 Cut Off Cancer Cells

In order to try and stop cancer cells from growing deadly,  we need to cut off their blood supply, a process called anti-angiogenesis. Certain foods, particularly brightly colored fruits, contain substances with anti-angiogenic properties.

Try eating the Anti-Cancer Fruit Salad  made with papaya, blackberries and nutmeg at lunchtime everyday. All three of these foods help prevent blood vessels from nourishing cancer cells.

3. Eliminate Exhaustion

This isn’t a lack of sleep exhaustion, they are talking about cellular exhaustion. To eliminate cellular exhaustion, try astragalus, a medicinal Chinese plant shown to help rebuild genes by boosting the enzyme telomerase.

Understanding what telomere is.

Exercise everyday because regular exercise boosts energy levels. Researchers say nearly every group studied — from healthy adults, to cancer patients, and those with chronic conditions including diabetes and heart disease — benefited from exercise.

4. Defeat Dementia

To keep your brain active and free from disease we need to get rid of plaque.  We do that by eating an anti inflammatory diet.  Dr. Andrew Weil is an expert in health and wellness and here are his tips for eating an anti inflammatory diet.

As well as an anti inflammatory diet, eliminate nitrates, and take an Acetyl-L-Carnitine & Alpha-Lipoic Acid Supplement. High levels of anti oxidant production is also found in my product Vemma. Vemma Is The World’s Most Powerful Liquid Antioxidant.

5. Go To Bed

Enough sleep is critical to living a long life.  A comment that Dr. Weil mentioned in one of his articles was the less people sleep the more likely they are to become obese.

Five Take Charge Easy Steps can change your life as Dr. Oz and Dr. Greenfield mention in the 24 Hour Anti Aging Plan.
